Even in pain, He still is there....

There is strength within the sorrow, There is beauty in our tears
You meet us in our mourning, With a love that casts out fear
You are working in our waiting, Sanctifying us
When beyond our understanding, You're teaching us to trust

Your plans are still to prosper, You have not forgotten us
You're with us in the fire and the flood
Faithful forever, Perfect in love
You are sovereign over us

You are wisdom unimagined, Who could understand your ways
Reigning high above the heavens, Reaching down in endless grace
Youʼre the Lifter of the lowly, Compassionate and kind
You surround and You uphold me, Your promises are my delight

Even what the enemy means for evil
You turn it for our good, You turn it for our good and for your glory
Even in the valley You are faithful
Youʼre working for our good, Youʼre working for our good and for your glory
This is part of the story of a very close friend of mine...
....24 years ago when the mother( who was an International business woman) was in the theater room bringing him forth, the doctors accidentally tempered with an artery that sent her into stroke. This incident was the beginning of her life's journey with God, a life of praying for her four sons and daily committing them to God, a life of nothing else but prayer. The most amazing thing my friend tells me the mother has never referred to him as the cause of her illness and immobilization, she has loved him and prayed for him unceasingly and as a result he has seen the perfect love of Christ expressed through the mother (I literally fought tears at this point)...
At age 9, my friend received Christ and since then he has pledged allegiance to this God. He does street evangelism in Cape town where he is a Civil Engineering student. So passionate about the gospel of Christ he constantly walks with a tract ( a transferable concept) of sharing the gospel any time as the spirit leads. A young man totally sold out to Christ.

Sometimes we go through unproductive, silent, painful seasons in life but God expects us to carry an attitude of thanksgiving and a heart of worship, just because He is God and He is sovereign.
Job 27:4- My lips will not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.... after Job is literally stripped off everything, 27 chapters down the line Job declares that He will not allow his lips to utter wickedness and deceit...
Oh that God would help us be worshipers constantly having an attitude of thanksgiving despite the issues and seasons we go through; Just because He is God and He is Sovereign over all.

  1. well put T, well said...

my desire is to worship Him in all seasons... to have an attitude of thanksgiving regardless of the situation,

    Romans 5:3-5
3 Not only that, but werejoice in our sufferings, knowing that sufferingproduces endurance,
4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,
5 andhope does not put us to shame, because God's lovehas been poured intoour hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

...the nakedness of my heart

Worship is close to my heart, it's a lifestyle worthy striving for everyday, it's a language I have come to love, expressing myself through it brings an indescribable experience. Expressing self to a God who is all knowing, who searches the hearts of men, who tests the mind even to give every man according to his ways and according to the fruit of his doings, can only be possible and fulfilling from a place of nakedness and brokenness. By being naked I am telling God, I am hiding nothing from you, my heart lies open before you, the wickedness of my heart is known to you, nothing you do not know about me, not even the slightest offensive thought I had...and I ask that you would search me, cleanse me and bring me back to you. I believe that God values and honors a pure heart; Psalm 51...."for without holiness no one shall see God" ; Hebrews 12:14 Brokenness is a continuous lifestyle of agreeing with God about the state of my heart and life as He alone can ...

About Complaining

The cares of this world can sometimes be overwhelming, it's possible for them to demand so much space in the very hearts that our Lord cautions us to guard with all diligence for out of them flows the issues of life. It's possible for these cares to bring us to moments of vulnerability.  "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.." A heart captured by the cares of life and a mind ruled by their weight is a weary heart" Hard truth; it's hard to lift up pure worship from a crowded heart unless  the Holy Spirit brings you to the place of knowing that God is perfect, He is good and no fault can ever be found in Him regardless of circumstances and the issues of life. Look at this,   Isaiah 43:2 'When you pass through the waters, I (The Lord) will be with you;and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. '  It is given that ...

We need a community....

A community is a social, religious, occupational, or other group sharing common characteristics or interests and perceived or perceiving itself as distinct in some respect from the  larger society within which it exists. For the last few weeks I have been reflecting on some interesting thoughts which I thought would help someone else reflect and learn as well... Spiritual muscles are often developed in the context of a community. People who remain connected with their brothers and sisters in the local church almost invariably grow in self-understanding, and they mature in their ability to relate in healthy ways to God and to their fellow Christians. This is especially the case for those who are courageous and stick it out through the often messy process of interpersonal discord and conflict resolution. People who stay grow, People who leave do not grow and if they grow, not much. We all might know people who are consumed with spiritual wanderlust, but you never get to know th...
